Charlie specialises in complex and high-value workplace disputes.

Expertise

Charlie advises employers, employees and LLP members. He has particular expertise in: executive recruitment, remuneration and exits; mental health in the workplace, including serious psychiatric breakdowns from stress and overwork; bullying, harassment, discrimination; investigation of allegations of serious misconduct; employee competition, business protection and restrictive covenants; whistleblowing; boardroom disputes.

Charlie is an experienced litigator in the Employment Tribunal and the civil courts.

Charlie acts for clients in a wide range of sectors, including technology, media, entertainment, financial services and professional services. He is experienced in advising on private client employment matters for high-profile individuals.


Career

Before joining Stewarts in 2020, Charlie practised employment law for nearly six years at Harbottle & Lewis. Charlie previously worked at a boutique employment practice, having completed his training at Lawrence Graham in 2012. He has a first-class degree in English Literature from the University of Durham.

Charlie is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association and sits on its City Regulation Committee.

  • Conducting an independent workplace investigation for a financial services employer involving allegations of serious misconduct, bullying, harassment and discrimination.
  • Advising a senior individual in a professional services firm on a move to another business, and defending allegations of unlawful competition and solicitation of clients and colleagues.
  • Acting for an employee in a high-pressure workplace who had experienced serious breakdowns in their mental and physical health arising from unreasonable demands and workplace bullying.
  • Defending a senior executive in financial services accused of bullying colleagues and of breaching FCA conduct rules.
  • Representing a senior executive in a household name business in a high value race discrimination claim.
